Smart Bus: the cheapest fixed price
Phuket Smart Bus runs from the airport down the west coast — Surin, Kamala, Patong, Karon and Kata — before ending at Rawai, with a published ฿100 (~$4) flat single fare and contactless cards, Thai QR payment and cash accepted. Karon and Kata sit after Patong on the route, so allow more riding time than the Patong journey.
The bus uses fixed stops, not hotel doors. Check the walking distance from the nearest stop to your accommodation and the current timetable before committing, especially with luggage or in the midday heat.
Metered taxi and app rides
Use the authorised taxi counter on Level 1 and confirm the destination, meter basis and posted airport surcharge before departure. For app-based rides, follow the pickup point shown in the app, and match the driver and vehicle before boarding.
Kata and Karon are among the longer west-coast runs from the airport, and travel time varies substantially with traffic, rain and time of day. Any quoted journey time is an estimate, not a guarantee.
Shared vans and private transfers
Counters in the public arrivals hall sell per-seat places in shared vans heading to the beach towns. They typically cost less than a private car but usually leave once enough seats are sold and drop other passengers en route, so budget waiting and detour time.
